Planting Seeds We wanted to make comparisons in growth rate so we used grass seed and mixed seeds used for feeding garden birds. |
The soil was separated in a large tray with a line of sand |
The children planted the seeds on either side of the sand line so that they could see the difference as the seeds grew. |
This was an adult led focus and intended to support the children in learning about what plants need to grow. The intention was so that the children would experiemce planting first hand. |
Using quick growing seeds enabled the children to see rapid results. |
Once the seeds were growing well the tray was used to support small world play. |

Slippery Dippery Once upon a time there was a snake called Slippery Dippery, and he lived in a jungle and he was going to his friends house. Then he had shoes on and it was boys shoes and he had a girl snake Loosely Lucy, and the girl snake took him to the elephant. The elephant said "Hello". Then it was night and he took him to the castle and there was a friend in the castle, a dragon who was there, he was a giant one, breathed fire. And the dragon missed Dippery and his friends. So they ran away and the dragon followed. So Slippery Dippery and his friends climbed a tall tree. The dragon could not climb the tree. The dragon went under the ground and found his Mum and Dad, and they lived happily ever after. The End. |
